Origin Malotira, the Cretan Mountain Tea is currently a protected herb found only in the Cretan Mountains. Its name, «malotira», comes from the combination of the Italian words male and tirare. Properties It was a traditional breakfast drink for residents of Western Crete and a medicinal herb against colds, stomach and respiratory ailments. Modern scientific research has confirmed the presence in the plant of valuable flavonoid substances with significant pharmacodynamic activity -the stimulation of cardiac function,-to reduce pressure,-in diuretics and in protection against colds.
